Further formation for veterinarians is offered through internship programmes and short stays by visiting veterinarians with an undertaking of strict confidentiality regarding specific clinical cases.
The internships are post graduated programmes directed to those qualified veterinary professionals who wish to expand their knowledge and experience of equine clinic practice, or for those who later wish to apply for a residential internship programme. Every year we offer 2 internship places with a duration of 12 months.
The intern fulfils the duties of assistant in the clinic's daily routine duties in the care of patients and will be involved in the diagnostic and clinical functions of the hospital, including out-of-normal hours working shifts.
The benefit obtained by the intern from this year is closely influenced by the effort made by the intern to study the cases admitted to the hospital, the up to date bibliography of each case and the exchange of information at the daily morning meetings and relative to each patient's case. We encourage each intern to present scientific studies for national and international forums, and to present these studies in pertinent scientific publications. Several of our past interns now hold diplomas or residential posts in North American or European specialist colleges.
Applicants for an internship will undertake a pre-selection trial period of minimum 15 days. To be considered for selection please send an email to practicas@laequina.com together with a current C.V.
Throughout the year we receive visits from veterinary students and licensed veterinarians from all over the world. In order that the working atmosphere is fair for all, including our clients, our intake capacity for visiting students / vets is between 2 to 4, depending on the season. The average visit to our hospital is between 15 and 30 days, although we try to accommodate all applicants if the number of requests for visits is reasonable.
